Analysis of comparative performance of CEUS and CECT/MR LI-RADS classification: Can CEUS dichotomize LI-RADS indeterminate lesions on CT or MRI?

Clinical Imaging Feb 13, 2020

Tan Z, et al. - The present study was performed to analyze the comparative performance of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and contrast-enhanced CT or MRI (CECT/MR) in estimating liver lesions using the LI-RADS guidelines. Researchers conducted a retrospective analysis of the radiology database revealing 228 individuals who had CECT/MR and CEUS between July 2010 and April 2017. A total of 45 individuals with 46 lesions were included in this study. hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was significantly greater than non-malignant. For CEUS review, the intraclass correlation coefficient was higher than of CECT/MR review. CEUS was found to be beneficial for the reassessment of lesions with intermediate probability (LR-3) or probable for HCC (LR-4) on CECT/MR. Lesions enhanced by CEUS tend to be HCC. It was reported that lesions that remain LR-3 on CEUS tend to be non-malignant.
