Analysis of adjuvant chemotherapy in patients undergoing curative-intent resection of localized adrenocortical carcinoma
American Journal of Surgery Nov 11, 2020
Al Asadi A, Hubbs DM, Sweigert PJ, et al. - Researchers investigated whether provision of adjuvant chemotherapy improves (ACT) survival outcomes in patients who underwent curative-intent resection of localized adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). In addition, they sought factors linked with receipt of ACT. Querying the National Cancer Data Base (2010–2016), they identified 577 patients with adrenalectomy; of which 389 (67%) had adrenalectomy alone, and 188 (33%) received ACT. Outcomes suggest that for patients who underwent curative-intent resection of localized ACC, ACT did not have any association with OS. Private insurance, lymphovascular invasion, stage II disease, and radiotherapy were noted to be linked with receipt of ACT.
