An observational cohort study of the use of five-grass-pollen extract sublingual immunotherapy during the 2015 pollen season in France
Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology Sep 28, 2018
Blin P, et al. - In this prospective cohort study directed by 90 community and hospital allergists, researchers analyzed real-world treatment patterns with a five-grass pollen extract sublingual immunotherapy (5GPE-SLIT) in France in terms of prescribing information. Eligible subjects were adults and children (> 5 years old) beginning a first treatment with 5GPE-SLIT before the 2015 pollen season. In adults and in children, the mean duration of treatment was 5.2 months and 5.6 months, respectively. They found that 5GPE-SLIT use largely adhered to prescribing recommendations. They also observed an improvement of allergic rhinitis severity consequent to treatment with 5GPE-SLIT. Approximately half the patients who got treatment experienced resolution of the principal allergic rhinitis symptoms.
