An international, multicenter, observational study of cerebral oxygenation during infant and neonatal anesthesia
Anesthesiology Dec 20, 2017
Olbrecht VA, et al. - The incidence of low cerebral oxygenation and associated factors during general anesthesia in infants, was determined in this multicenter study. A frequent occurrence of mild and moderate low cerebral saturation was noted, with an uncommon occurrence of severe low cerebral saturation. In addition, not well associated with low cerebral saturation, low mean arterial pressure was commonly reported. Additionally, subsequent development of neurocognitive abnormalities seemed to be unlikely explained by unrecognized severe desaturation lasting 3 min or longer in infants.
