An individual patient data meta-analysis on the effect of chemotherapy on survival in patients with craniofacial osteosarcoma
Head & Neck Feb 06, 2019
Liang L, et al. - Investigators examined PubMed and EMBASE from February 1997 to December 2016 for studies regarding craniofacial osteosarcoma (CFOS) to assess the impact of chemotherapy on survival in subjects with CFOS. Thirteen studies with 184 patients met the inclusion criteria. They observed improvement in overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) resulting from chemotherapy in individuals with CFOS who had tumors in the maxilla, positive resection margins, or high-grade tumors. They also found that those with local tumor recurrence had better OS and DSS when they received chemotherapy.
