An environmental cleaning bundle and health-care-associated infections in hospitals (REACH): A multicentre, randomised trial
The Lancet Infectious Diseases Apr 01, 2019
Mitchell BG, et al. - The effectiveness of an environmental cleaning bundle to reduce healthcare-associated infections in hospitals was determined via performing the REACH study, a pragmatic, multicentre, randomized trial, in Australia. Between May 9, 2016, and July 30, 2017, implementation of the cleaning bundle was done in 11 hospitals. The REACH cleaning bundle was a multimodal intervention that focused on optimizing product use, technique, staff training, auditing with feedback, and communication, for routine cleaning. The intervention was successful in increasing cleaning thoroughness and showed great promise in reducing vancomycin-resistant enterococci infections.
