An assessment of the use of antihistamines in the management of atopic dermatitis

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jan 11, 2018

He A, et al. - An inspection was conducted of the use of sedating and non-sedating antihistamines for atopic dermatitis (AD) from 2003-2012. Findings brought to light the wide usage of antihistamines for the treatment of AD. No high-level evidence was obtained to indicate that non-sedating antihistamines reduced itch in such patients or that sedating antihistamines were useful in controlling AD symptoms (with the possible exception of sleep and AD co-morbidities, such as allergic rhinitis).
