An analysis of factors associated with compliance and drop out of sublingual immunotherapy on Japanese cedar pollinosis patients
International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology Feb 08, 2019
Imanaka T, et al. - A sum of 1236 Japanese candidates were assessed to examine the dropout and compliance among adults (≥20 years of age) and adolescents (<20 years of age) for Japanese cedar pollen extract (JCPE), aqueous sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) approved in 2014 in Japan. They found 13.5% and 22.1% of drop out rates and 92.8% and 88.8% of compliance rates in 1- and 2-year adult cohorts, respectively. A lower dropout risk was observed among candidates with 40-59 years of age as compared to subjects with 20-29 years of age. They noticed a positive relationship between systemic steroidal medication history, as well as male gender, and compliance in adults.
