An analysis of factors affecting the accuracy of endoscopic biopsy after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
European Journal of Surgical Oncology Oct 20, 2017
Chao YK, et al. - In this study, researchers sought to assess the factors that could affect the diagnostic accuracy of post-neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) endoscopic biopsy in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). they recognized a higher diagnostic accuracy of the endoscopic biopsies performed ≥45 days after nCRT. This time cutoff could serve as a reference to inform the choice of the optimal treatment strategy following nCRT. This was particularly noted among complete responders in whom surgery withholding was being considered.
