Amyloidosis of the bladder and association with urothelial carcinoma: Report of 29 cases
Human Pathology Aug 24, 2019
Sirohi D, Gandhi J, Amin MB, et al. - Researchers focused on the association of amyloidosis of the bladder with urothelial carcinoma. They analyzed 29 cases of amyloidosis in the bladder, 14 of which were found in association with urothelial carcinoma. The most common presentation was a mass lesion (n = 18). Not reported previously, this study offers the finding that urothelial carcinoma occurred in 48% of the cases in association with amyloidosis. A seemingly unique finding not commonly seen with other solid tumors was the association of amyloid in the bladder and urothelial carcinoma, though the link was probably not causal.
