Ajmera V, et al. - The longitudinal correlation between modest use of alcohol and histology findings was comprehensively assessed by the authors in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), using paired liver biopsies collected more than 1 year apart. In individuals not receiving pharmacologic therapy, modest alcohol use exhibited a connection with less improvement in steatosis and level of aspartate transaminase, along with lower odds of Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis Clinical Research Network (NASH) resolution, than with no use of alcohol.
