AMH assessment five or more years after an initially low AMH level
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Nov 05, 2020
Desongnis S, Robin G, Dewailly D, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for determining the prevalence of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) 5 to 10 years after an anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) assay below 8 pmol/L. Women aged younger than 36 years who underwent a complete workup for infertility between January 2008 and December 2013 at the University Hospital and had an AMH level less than 8 pmol/L were included. Data reported that the prevalence of POI after at least 5 years was 8/47, or 17%. A risk factor for POI tends to be serum AMH < 8 pmol/L before 36 years of age. Such women need periodic follow-up, especially if their cycles are irregular.
