Alterations of gastric emptying features following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in Chinese patients with obesity: A self-controlled observational study
Obesity Surgery Dec 12, 2018
Li M, et al. - As alteration in motor gastric function is a fundamental feature following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), researchers investigated the gastric emptying time 3 month after LSG, correlations between gastric emptying time and body weight, weight loss, and glycemia levels, alongside determining predictive factors of weight loss at the 3-month follow-up. Recruiting 21 patients in this study, they identified an increase in the rate of gastric emptying following LSG. They observed longer gastric emptying times prior to treatment and significantly shortened emptying times following surgery in patients with a higher risk of type 2 diabetes at baseline.
