Alterations in the metabolic and cardiorespiratory response to exercise in Huntington's disease
Parkinsonism & Related Disorders Apr 19, 2018
Steventon J, et al. - Authors looked into the exercise response and recovery of individuals with Huntington's disease (HD), and the association with genetic and clinical markers. It was determined that metabolic and cardiorespiratory deficits reduced exercise performance and exerted an impact on recovery from an early stage in HD, with submaximal deficits associated with phenotypic expression. Findings illustrated that the exercise capacity seems limited by an altered movement economy, so clinicians should consider an altered exercise response and recovery may have an effect on prescription in HD.
