Alterations in long noncoding RNAs in women with and without polycystic ovarian syndrome
Clinical Endocrinology Oct 05, 2019
Butler AE, Hayat S, Dargham SR, et al. - In this cross sectional study, researchers identified long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) differences between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and control women. The study sample consisted of 24 anovulatory women with all three diagnostic features of PCOS vs 24 control women in the follicular phase of their menstrual cycle from a PCOS biobank. In the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle, lncRNAs differ between anovulatory PCOS and control women. Whether this is due to inherent differences between PCOS and control women or to changes in lncRNA that are dependent on the menstrual cycle is unclear. Their IPA, however, did not recognize related pathways, probably because these lncRNAs are still allocated few functions.
