Alcohol drinking, ADH1B and ADH1C genotypes, and the risk of postmenopausal breast cancer by hormone receptor status: The Netherlands Cohort Study on Diet and Cancer
Carcinogenesis Jul 26, 2018
Hahn M, et al. - Experts evaluated the association between alcohol drinking and risk of breast cancer (BC). Single nucleotide polymorphisms in alcohol dehydrogenase isoenzymes ADH1B and ADH1C may modify this association. In this Netherlands Cohort Study, they included 62,573 women, aged 55-69 years at baseline (1986). As per data, the risk of postmenopausal BC increased with alcohol. In overall BC nor in hormone receptor-defined subtypes, common ADH1B and ADH1C SNPs did not significantly modify this correlation.
