Alcohol consumption in late adolescence is associated with an increased risk of severe liver disease later in life
Journal of Hepatology Jan 25, 2018
Hagstrom H, et al. - This research was designed to explore the association between alcohol consumption early in life and later development of the severe liver disease. In young men, alcohol consumption was correlated with an increased risk of severe liver disease, up to 39 years later in life. With no sign of a threshold effect, the risk was dose-dependent. A revision could be required for the current guidelines regarding safe alcohol intake in men.
