Alcohol consumption and the risk of gastroesophageal reflux disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Pan J, et al. - Considering the prevalence of and the rising incidence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), researchers investigated the correlation between alcohol consumption and GERD via conducting a meta-analysis of observational studies. They analyzed 26 cross-sectional studies and 3 case-control studies in the meta-analysis. Outcomes indicated a significant correlation between alcohol consumption and the risk of GERD. Dose-response analysis revealed a linear association between alcohol consumption and GERD.
