Albuminuria and masked uncontrolled hypertension in chronic kidney disease
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Dec 15, 2017
Agarwal R - The researcher sought to determine the strength of the association of masked uncontrolled hypertension (MUCH) (awake ambulatory blood pressure ≥135/85 mmHg and clinic blood pressure <140/90 mmHg) with target organ damage. Findings revealed a more robust association of MUCH with albuminuria than cardiovascular damage as assessed by left ventricular mass and pulse wave velocity. Data also showed a graded and an independent association of blood pressure classification status with albuminuria, this was found to be consistent with the notion that renal mechanisms may be more important than cardiovascular disease in mediating the pathogenesis of MUCH.
