Agreement study between color and IR retinal images based on retinal vasculature morphological parameters
BMC Ophthalmology Jan 25, 2019
Ajaz A, et al. - Investigators assessed 16 candidates to plot the agreement between the retinal vasculature parameters from the Infrared images (IR) obtained from optical coherence tomography (OCT) and color fundus imaging. They investigated the agreement between the two modalities ie, Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma, with the Bland Altman plot. The paired sample t-test showed no statistically significant variation between Color and IR based on retinal vessel features. Overall, they preferred the use of IR images of the retina to measure the retinal vasculature parameters with the benefit of being flash-less. Therefore, it could be used even in the case of opacity due to cataract and could be performed along with OCT on the same device.
