Agreement of 2D transthoracic echocardiography with cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging after ST-elevation myocardial infarction
European Journal of Radiology Mar 07, 2019
Hendriks T, et al. - In a contemporary population of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients, researchers examined the agreement of two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography (2D TTE) with cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). The study sample consisted of 259 patients who had same-day CMR and 2D TTE assessments four months after hospitalization for a first STEMI. When comparing 2D TTE to CMR, wide limits of agreement, underestimation of left ventricular (LV) volumes and overestimation of LV mass was observed. Potential sources of bias between imaging modalities were enzymatic infarct size, age, sex and heart rate.
