Agreement in reporting of asthma by parents or offspring – the RHINESSA generation study
BMC Pulmonary Medicine Aug 01, 2018
Kuiper IN, et al. - In the Respiratory Health in Northern Europe, Spain and Australia (RHINESSA) generation study, researchers focused on the agreement and analyzed predictors of disagreement in parents’ reports of offspring asthma, and in offspring reports of parents’ asthma. Study participants were 6752 offspring (age range 18–51 years) and their parents (age range 39–66 years). These subjects reported their own and each other’s asthma status. They found moderate to good agreement between asthma reports across generations. These findings suggest that in the absence of direct reports, information from other generations afford a useful tool.
