Age and gender influence on HIDRAdisk outcomes in adalimumab-treated hidradenitis suppurativa patients
Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Sep 26, 2019
Fabbrocini G, et al. - In this single-centre retrospective study, researchers examined the utility of HIDRAdisk [a new graphical tool has recently been introduced that can better describe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) burden] in clinical practice before and after treatment and ascertained if specific factors like age and gender can influence the outcomes in patients with moderate-to-severe HS. The study sample consisted of 24 patients (13F/11M, mean age 38 ± 15 years) with moderate-to-severe HS. According to results, HIDRAdisk exhibited significantly better improvements in males vs females. The authors observed a significant association in the total population between HS severity values measured through the modified Sartorius score (mSS) and QoL measured through HIDRAdisk. HIDRAdisk appears as a comprehensive and informative instrument that can readily assess the worldwide HS burden, guide the decision of therapy and assess its effectiveness.
