Age-adjusted comorbidity and survival in locally advanced laryngeal cancer
Head & Neck Aug 16, 2018
Mohamed ASR, et al. - In patients with locally advanced laryngeal cancer, researchers quantified the association between age, pretreatment comorbidity, and survival outcomes. Findings suggested that, for patients with locally advanced laryngeal cancer, the age-adjusted Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) significantly predicts noncancer CSS and overall survival (OS), but is not associated with disease-specific survival (DSS). For patients with CCI ≤3, the 5-year overall survival (OS) was superior to CCI >3, however, no difference was seen in the 5-year disease-specific survival (DSS) rates. For age-adjusted CCI ≤3, the 5-year noncancer CSS was better.
