Age‐specific clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic analysis of neuroendocrine carcinomas of the gallbladder
Cancer Medicine Dec 03, 2021
Zhang Z, Guo T, Huang X, et al. - Researchers compared clinical and pathological features between different age groups and prognostic factors for gallbladder neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) and examined how NEC differs from adenocarcinoma (ADC) of the gallbladder.
Clinical characteristics and pathological findings of a total of 28 gallbladder NEC patients and 137 ADC patients were retrieved.
Two groups based on the age more than or less than 60 years were formed among NEC patients.
Age was not identified as predictive of overall survival of gallbladder NEC.
Following were independent risk factors for NECs: surgical method and tumor size.
In addition, a worse prognosis was recorded for NEC vs ADC patients with similar clinical and pathological features.
