Vine V, et al. - The authors examined the hypothesis that the role of emotional clarity in emotion regulation and, in turn, depression depended on individual differences in negative affect intensity. They supported a process model of low emotional clarity in depression that integrated emotion regulatory mediators, and moderation by negative affect intensity. Trait differences in affect intensity could determine whether and how emotional clarity and regulation processed factor into mood psychopathology.
