Aetiological investigations in early developmental impairment: Are they worth it?

Hart AR, et al. - As a part of this research, an assessment was conducted of the frequency of aetilogical investigations in children with early developmental impairment (EDI), and the contribution made to the diagnosis by specific investigations. Maximum 'screening investigations for EDI did not contribute to a diagnosis. This data underscored an area of cost saving for the NHS and reduced burden for patients and families. A streamlined guideline was put forth for the investigation of EDI based on the available data.
