Meltzer-Brody S, et al. - This epidemiological population-based cohort study was designed to investigate whether adverse childhood experiences (ACE) in girls increased the risk of later postpartum psychiatric episodes. ACE primarily because of parental psychopathology and disability contributed to increased risk of postpartum psychiatric episodes. With an observed dose-response effect, greater numbers of ACE increased the risk for postpartum psychiatric illness.
