Advanced stage at diagnosis and worse clinicopathologic features in young women with breast cancer in Brazil: A subanalysis of the Amazona III study (GBECAM 0115)

Franzoi MA, Rosa DD, Zaffaroni F, et al. - In this AMAZONA III study (GBECAM 0115), a prospective registry that involved 2,950 women newly diagnosed with invasive breast cancer (BC) in Brazil from January 2016 until March 2018 at 22 sites, experts intended to understand and identify scenario of BC in young women in Brazil through real-world data. At diagnosis, Brazilian women younger than age 40 years had unfavorable clinicopathological characteristics of BC along with more aggressive subtypes and advanced stage when contrasted with elderly women. However, these variations are not defined through socioeconomic or ethnic imbalances. Moreover, the causes of a greater predominance of BC among young women in Brazil warrant further research.
