Advanced maternal age during pregnancy and the risk for malignant morbidity in the childhood
European Journal of Pediatrics Apr 18, 2018
Imterat M, et al. - Authors investigated if advanced maternal age exhibited an independent relationship with an increased risk of childhood cancers in the offspring. They analyzed elderly parturients (≥ 35 years) who delivered between the years 1991 and 2014. The enrollees were divided into 2 sub-categories: 35–39 and 40–50 years. The comparison group consisted of parturients aged 20–34 years. Data displayed that advanced maternal age did not reveal any connection with general malignant morbidity in the offspring up to 18 years of age. For leukemia, the regression model demonstrated an independent association in maternal ages of 35–39 years.
