Baumgartner A, et al. - Experts retrospectively analyzed symptoms and admission diagnoses at first clinical presentation in autoimmune encephalitis (AE) patients. They included the patients with a clinical diagnosis of AE for whom a FDG-PET imaging was available. The broad spectrum of initial symptoms of AE was demonstrated in the findings; quite often the correct initial diagnosis of AE is missed or delayed. Therefore, AE should be considered in the differential diagnosis of cases with atypical clinical presentations by the clinicians in neurological and psychiatric hospitals. At first admission, the clinical presentation was typical for AE in 80.0%.
