Admission blood glucose and 10-year mortality among patients with or without pre-existing diabetes mellitus hospitalized with heart failure

Zadok OIB, et al. – Researchers sought to assess the link between admission blood glucose (ABG) levels and long–term (10 years) mortality in patients with or without pre–existing diabetes mellitus (DM) admitted with heart failure (HF). Findings reported a linear relationship between ABG level and long–term mortality in those with no pre–existing DM, whereas, a link was seen between increased mortality risk and only ABG level >200 mg/dL in patients with DM.
