Hong AM, Fogarty GB, Dolven-Jacobsen K, et al. - In this randomized phase III trial, individuals who had local treatment of one to three melanoma brain metastases were randomized to whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) or observation in order to ascertain the role of adjuvant whole-brain radiation therapy compared with observation following local treatment of melanoma brain metastases. In terms of distant intracranial control, survival, or preservation of performance status, following local treatment of one to three melanoma brain metastases, it was observed that adjuvant WBRT does not give a clinical advantage.
