Adjuvant vaginal brachytherapy and chemotherapy vs pelvic radiotherapy in early-stage endometrial cancer: Outcomes by risk factors
Gynecologic Oncology Oct 18, 2019
Tatebe K, et al. - Individuals from the National Cancer Database who were treated with either VBT + CT or WPRT were identified in order to report on methods of care as well as assess the two treatment regimens using a large retrospective hospital-based registry to recognize possible subgroups of patients who may encountered advantage with VBT + CT vs EBRT. With 41% and 59% receiving VBT + CT and WPRT, respectively, 4,602 individuals were involved in the analysis. In individuals with early-stage serous carcinoma, VBT + CT was related to better survival outcomes. Moreover, for non-serous histology, treatment modality was not correlated with a variation in survival, however, individuals with high-grade disease and no nodal dissection had an advantage from EBRT.
