Adjuvant therapy in stage III endometrial cancer confined to the pelvis
Gynecologic Oncology Jan 23, 2019
Albeesh R, et al. - In patients with stage III endometrial cancer confined to the pelvis, investigators assessed the outcomes of treatment with adjuvant pelvic radiotherapy (RT) or sequential chemoradiotherapy (CRT). One hundred forty-four patients diagnosed with stage IIIA, B or C1 endometrial cancer were treated in the institution between 1990 and 2012. Adding adjuvant chemotherapy to RT significantly improved overall survival in grade 3 disease in these patients. Data reported that grade 3 histology is a strong predictor for poor outcome and patients with grade 3 disease seem to benefit from chemotherapy.
