Adjuvant photodynamic therapy in head and neck cancer after tumor-positive resection margins

van Doeveren TEM, et al. – This report enlightened the clinical benefit of photodynamic therapy (PDT) as adjuvant therapy in head and neck cancer after tumor–positive resection margins. The experts illustrated that PDT could be used as an adjuvant therapy after surgery in cases of a malignancy with close or positive tumor resection margins. However, its clinical benefits were yet to be explored. There was a significantly better disease–free survival with a time interval between surgery and PDT of minimal 6 weeks.
