Adjuvant external beam radiotherapy for locally invasive papillary thyroid cancer
Head & Neck Jan 15, 2019
Megwalu UC, et al. - Researchers assessed 870 patients with surgically resected T4 papillary thyroid carcinoma identified in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Database between 1988 and 2013 to evaluate the influence of adjuvant external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) on survival in locally invasive papillary thyroid carcinoma. They noted a relation of EBRT to poor overall survival (OS) in candidates with major extrathyroidal invasion, but not with disease-specific survival (DSS). They observed an association of adjuvant EBRT with worse OS and DSS in locally invasive papillary thyroid carcinoma subjects.
