Adjuvant chemotherapy is associated with improved survival for late-stage salivary squamous cell carcinoma
The Laryngoscope Mar 24, 2019
Cheraghlou S, et al. - In treating early- and late-stage salivary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), researchers determined the outcomes correlated with the use of adjuvant radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy. The study sample consisted of 2,285 of surgically resected adult salivary SCC diagnosed in the National Cancer Database between 2004 and 2014. According to this retrospective study, adding chemotherapy to the late-stage adjuvant therapy (either chemoradiotherapy or radiotherapy alone) of salivary SCC patients might lead to improved long-term survival. Expanded use of adjuvant therapy can also improve patient outcomes for early-stage disease.
