Adjacent segment degeneration after intervertebral fusion surgery by means of cervical block vertebrae
European Spine Journal Nov 15, 2017
Ma X, et al. - This work was planned to assess the incidence of cervical block vertebrae and determine a gender difference if any. Cervical block vertebrae cases were investigated for the association of adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) with age and segment and examined for the specific relationship. In addition, researchers searched for the imaging findings and characteristics of this disease. Compared to fusion segments located in C3Â4, findings revealed that C4Â5, C5Â6, and C6Â7 were more prone to ASD. In patients with vertebral fusion, the incidence of ASD increased with age.
