Adherence to guidelines is associated with improved survival following in- hospital cardiac arrest
Resuscitation Jul 28, 2020
Hessulf F, Herlitz J, Rawshani A, et al. - Researchers examined if and how adherence to guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) after in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) is associated with survival with a focus on delay to treatment. The Swedish Registry for CPR yielded data from 3,212 patients with a shockable rhythm and 9,113 patients with non-shockable rhythm from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2017. Observations revealed correlation of adherence to guidelines with increased probability of survival and improved neurological function in patients with a shockable and non-shockable rhythm. Improved adherence to guidelines could raise cardiac arrest survival.
