Adenotonsillectomy in children with syndromic craniosynostosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology May 28, 2019
Saengthong P, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis researchers evaluated the effect of adenotonsillectomy for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children with syndromic craniosynostosis. Searching PubMed, SCOPUS, Ovid Medline, and Web of science databases, they included 3 relevant retrospective studies (24 patients). The analysis revealed adenotonsillectomy as beneficial in terms of apnea–hypopnea index (AHI) and oxygen desaturation index (ODI) in these children. However, statistical significance was achieved by only ODI, but not AHI.
