Adenoid cystic carcinoma of the sinonasal tract: A review of the national cancer database
International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology May 03, 2019
Trope M, et al. - Using the National Cancer Database (NCDB), researchers characterized the incidence and determining factors for survival in patients with sinonasal adenoid cystic carcinoma (SNACC) between the years 2004 and 2012. They identified a total of 793 patients. The most common primary site was the maxillary sinus and 49.1% of cases had stage IV disease. According to this retrospective, population-based cohort study, age, comorbidity status, grade, and stage forecast survival in SNACC. Surgery remains the mainstay of therapy and is related to improved survival; future investigation is required to assess the roles of radiation therapy and chemotherapy in SNACC.
