Adenocarcinoma of high-grade patterns associated with distinct outcome of first-line chemotherapy or EGFR-TKIs in patients of relapsed lung cancer
Cancer Management and Research May 28, 2021
Yu X, Dong Z, Wang W, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the link between an adenocarcinoma with high-grade patterns with the results of first-line therapy in patients suffering from lung cancer. They conducted a retrospective analysis of patients with a high-grade pattern adenocarcinoma (more than 20% of micropapillary/solid components/complex glandular patterns). Inferior results to first-line chemotherapy in relapsed lung cancer were evident in relation to an adenocarcinoma with high-grade patterns. A significantly shorter progression-free survival and overall survival and lower objective response rate were observed in cases managed with chemotherapy vs controls, while no difference was seen in the epidermal growth factor receptor–tyrosine kinase inhibitor cohort. This work represents the first study to present the distribution of adenocarcinoma with high-grade patterns.
