Added value of including entire brain on body imaging with FDG PET/MRI
American Journal of Roentgenology May 31, 2018
Franceschi AM, et al. - Study authors attempted to identify and characterize brain findings incidentally detected on PET/MRI of the body with the head included. Two hundred sixty-nine patients with FDG PET/MRI whole-body scans that included the head were retrospectively identified. Results of this study suggested that routine body imaging with FDG PET/MRI of the area from the skull base to the mid thigh could miss important brain abnormalities when the head was not included. The findings demonstrated that the additional brain abnormalities identified on whole-body imaging could provide added clinical value to the management of oncology patients.
