Adaptation and validation of a pediatric Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score and evaluation of the Sepsis-3 definitions in critically ill children

Matics TJ, et al. – The researchers wished to adapt and validate a pediatric version of the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score (pSOFA) in critically ill children and to assess the Sepsis and Septic Shock (Sepsis–3) definitions in patients with confirmed or suspected infection. In critically ill children, the pSOFA score was successfully adapted and validated with age–adjusted variables. In children with confirmed or suspected infection, the Sepsis–3 definitions were evaluated with the aid of pSOFA score.
