Acute weight loss restores dysregulated circulating micrornas in individuals who are obese
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism Mar 07, 2019
Manning P, et al. - Researchers assessed the data to estimate the miRNA signatures in obese females and also to ascertain the response of miRNAs to acute weight loss. They found substantial dysregulation of 21 miRNAs, along with their association with impaired glucose tolerance, senescence, cardiac hypertrophy, angiogenesis, inflammation, and cell death. They noticed the reversal of expression pattern of 18 miRNAs due to acute weight loss towards those seen in the lean control group. They recorded similar levels of 7 miRNAs in obese women and lean females after acute weight loss.
