Acute-to-chronic glycemic ratio as a predictor of COVID-19 severity and mortality
Diabetes Care Nov 19, 2021
Ramon J, Llauradó G, Güerri R, et al. - Researchers examined if and how acute-to-chronic (A/C) glycemic ratio is associated with mortality and severity outcomes for patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) hospitalized with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Among 91 included patients, 35 had a primary outcome event (a composite of in-hospital mortality, intensive care unit admission, and mechanical ventilation), presenting a significant correlation with the A/C glycemic ratio.
Imbalance between acute glycemia at admission and chronic metabolic control was correlated with worse prognosis in T2D patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
