Acute macular neuroretinopathy: Pathogenetic insights from optical coherence tomography angiography
British Journal of Ophthalmology Feb 17, 2019
Casalino G, et al. - Investigators described the optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) characteristics of subjects affected by acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) in this prospective, observational, cross-sectional study. They included 7 candidates affected by AMN with mean age 19.4±3.2 years. They found a lower choriocapillaris (CC) vessel density in subjects with AMN (0.495±0.03) as compared to the age-matched controls (0.545±0.02). They also noted the intralesional vessel density of the DCP, 0.349±0.04 in AMN vs 0.497±0.02 in the controls. They also found a focal impairment of the deep capillary plexuses (DCP) within the AMN lesions.
