SooHoo M, et al. - Whether acute kidney injury (AKI) in neonates after cardiopulmonary bypass was associated with the development of a postoperative infection, was investigated. An independent association of fluid corrected AKI with the development of a postoperative infection was demonstrated, supporting the notion that AKI is an immunosuppressed state that increases the risk of infection.
