Acute kidney injury in premature newborns - definition, etiology, and outcome
Pediatric Nephrology Sep 07, 2017
Stojanovic V, et al. – Researchers aimed to illustrate the acute kidney injury in premature newborns. According to findings, neonates with acute kidney injury (AKI) had a worse outcome. In comparison to neonatal AKI defined based only on the serum creatinine (SCr) or urine output (UOP) criteria, neonatal AKI defined based on SCr + UOP criteria was a better predictor of death. By employing SCr + UOP criteria for diagnosing neonatal AKI, more patients with AKI were recruited than when only one of those criteria was used.
